On Shabbat afternoon, the community gathers for the Mincha prayers. The mood is generally calmer than the morning services. The content of the prayers reflect the essential goal of menucha (rest) on the Sabbath day.
The synagogue has a Mincha/Ma’ariv service for the community that begins with Mincha at 5:00 p.m. (6:00 p.m. during Daylight Savings time) in the Winer Chapel followed by Se’udat Sh’lishit (a light meal), and concluding with the Ma’ariv prayers and Havdalah.
In addition, many families now choose to have Mincha B’nai Mitzvah services. Typically, there are several such B’nai Mitzvah afternoon services per month.
