Valley Beth Shalom Weekly Update

May 17-18, 2013  9 Sivan, 5773

From the
Rabbis Corner

"In Honor of Rabbi Ed Feinstein for 20 Years at VBS" by Rabbi Paul Steinberg

In the beginning, when God finished creating the world, God conceived of creating human beings.  When the ministering angels learned of God’s plan, they rallied in protest.  They cried out, “Master of the Universe, don’t you realize that these humans will fight, steal, and lie?  Don’t you realize that they will start wars and abuse the earth – they will violate the very Torah which you will give them?”  At that very moment God knew just what to do.  God knew that special agents of wisdom, stewards of Torah and divine inspiration would need to accompany and guide people toward their promise and potential.  It was then that God created the souls of teachers; it was then that Rabbi Feinstein’s soul – my teacher – was born.
