Almost every Shabbat of the year there is a group of young people who lead the Shacharit service, with traditional Nusach, in the main sanctuary.  These young people study the Cantorial interpretation of the Shabbat service and then take turns leading the prayers as Cantors.

When I came to Valley Beth Shalom I felt the need to develop young people who would be at home both leading and participating in services.  We have a practice session each Wednesday afternoon and in the past twenty years several hundred young people have been able to learn to "daven!"

The children who sing in the chazanoot class have a chance to learn the age old synagogue melodies of our people.  Our musical, liturgical tradition lives on.
