Answers to commonly asked questions about admission to VBS ECC Preschool
  1. Is VBS Synagogue membership required to apply?
    VBS Synagogue membership is required for enrollment in any preschool program ages Acorn through TK. Infant Toddler and Pea Pods classes currently do not require synagogue membership.
  2. How old should my child be to be admitted?
    Children must be 2 years old by September. For Pea Pods, your child may be turning two between September and November.
  3. How many days a week do children attend?
    Our preschool runs on a five day weekly schedule. Our Acorns and Pea Pods program offers 3 day options, too. Our youngest children (Acorns & Seedlings) attend Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., young/intermediate children (Sprouts & Sprigs) attend Monday–Friday, 9:00a.m.-1:00 p.m., Pre-K children (Oaks) attend Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and TK children attend Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Our Infant-Toddler & Family Center class schedules vary, depending upon your child’s age and your schedule.   4. May I bring my child early or have them stay late?
    Yes! Early care is available from 7:30am, and extended care after school is offered until 5:30pm (4:30pm on Fridays)
  5. Does your school offer enrichment classes?
    Yes. We offer a variety of enrichment classes after school. Information is released every fall and spring.
  6. What is the tuition?
    Tuition information is published every January. Please call the Preschool office for additional information regarding tuition at (818) 788-0567.
  7. How do we pay tuition?
    Tuition fee schedules are published in early spring. Payments may be made in 1, 2 or 10 installments. Questions regarding tuition should be directed to ECC Director of Admissions, Claire Berger, at​​​​​​​
  8. When are applications due?
    Submit your application today (CLICK HERE to complete our online application). Applications are accepted through January. Late applicants will be considered only if space becomes available. ECC Infant-Toddler families have priority when transitioning into Preschool.​​​​​​​
  9. When will we be notified of our admission status?
    We notify families of admission status in February.​​​​​​​
  10. Is a deposit required to secure my child’s placement?
    Yes, in addition to the $175 non-refundable application fee, a $500 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of admission. The $500 deposit will be applied to your child’s tuition.​​​​​​​
  11. May we see the classrooms?
    ​​​​​​​Absolutely! We recommend that all prospective parents visit the ECC Preschool. Please call the ECC office (818) 788-0567 and schedule a tour.
