
VBS Mitzvah Day 2017

VBS is committed to serving the neediest members of our community through a number of initiatives.
Join us in Mitzvah Day activities such as:
CREATE
- Assembling "welcome home" packages for people moving into permanent housing
- Writing letters and drawing pictures to send love to U.S. and Israeli soldiers
- Create toys for shelter animals
- Write "get well" cards for VBS members
- Compile packages for U.S. soldiers through Operation Gratitude
- Knit kid-friendly quilt squares for families in Africa through JWW Quilt of Caring
NOURISH
- Make sack lunches for the hungry at local shelters
- Prepare pasta casseroles for homeless shelter residents
- Pack Thanksgiving dinner bags for foster families
- Assemble "I Care" packages for the Valley Interfaith Food Pantry
COLLECT
Urgently needed items for the VBS Food Bank include:
- Peanut Butter
- Cold (and hot) cereal
- Granola bars
- Canned goods: fruit, vegetables, soup, chicken, tomato sauce
- Powdered milk
- Leftover Halloween candy
- Sun butter
- Jelly
Items needed for "Welcome Home" packages for people moving into permanent housing include:
- Laundry baskets
- Tissue
- Toilet paper
- Paper towels
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Bar soap and body wash
- Tooth paste
- Tooth brushes
- Mouth wash
- Deodorant
- Lotion
- Feminine products
- Shaving cream
- Hand sanitizer
- Laundry soap
- Baby wipes
- Household cleaners (Comet; Pine Sol; sponges; Clorox wipes; etc.)
- Toilet brush
- Kitchen utensils, plates, cups, etc.
- Bathroom and kitchen towels
- Blankets
