PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM CANTOR RAFII

OPENING WEEKEND - SATURDAY MORNING SERVICE

Shalom ECLC Families,

This Saturday morning marks a significant moment for our community as we celebrate our first Shabbat service in VBS's newly remodeled Niznick sanctuary. Our new sanctuary, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, promises an enhanced experience of spiritual and Jewish life filled with music, energy, and inspiration.

With great joy, we extend a personal invitation for you and your children to join us on this historic occasion.

All ECLC students are warmly invited to join us on the Bima to lead Mah Tovu alongside our clergy at the opening of the service at 9:30. Then, our 7th-grade students will have the honor of leading Sh'ma & V’ahavta from the Bima, showcasing their growth and leadership within our community.

Services begin at 9:30 am, conclude around noon, and are followed by a Kiddush luncheon. All are welcome.

Please come and be part of this momentous weekend in the life of our community. See and celebrate your new spiritual home.

4TH GRADE, WORKING HARD AND

WORKING TOGETHER!

This week, I want to shine a spotlight on our 4th-grade class, with whom I had the pleasure of spending an inspiring day this Tuesday.

Under the guidance of Rabbi Yael, our 4th graders embarked on a fascinating exploration of the special garments worn by the Cohanim (Priests) in the Temple. The lesson centered on the concept of "Wise Hearted" (חכמי הלב) individuals - those endowed with the wisdom and skill to craft such sacred attire. But the question posed was intriguing: Who possesses the unique combination of heart and skill to create clothing fit for those serving in the Temple?

To bring this concept to life, our students were tasked with creating recruitment ads/posters and even movies to "hire" the right artisans for this holy endeavor.

We were treated to imaginative recruitment strategies, each presenting a unique vision of what it means to be "Wise Hearted." See samples below and in the banner image above. Eva and Savannah also produced a captivating video that highlighted the requirements for the job and delved into the significance of the garments themselves.

Spending the day with the 4th grade was a joyful and enlightening experience. Witnessing their creativity, engagement, and deep dive into Jewish tradition was a reminder of the vibrant learning community we've fostered at the ECLC.

These moments of learning are not just about academic growth; they're about nurturing a profound connection to our heritage and understanding the values that have sustained our people through the ages.

Thank you to Rabbi Yael for guiding our students through these enriching lesson/s, and a big round of applause to our 4th graders for their creative work. Your creativity and wisdom truly embody the spirit of חכמי הלב.

VBS SANCTUARY OPENING WEEKEND

Calling all ECLC students and families to join us Saturday morning for community Shabbat Service followed by a celebratory Kiddush lunch.

7th grade students will join the Bima to lead Sh'ma & V'Ahavta and Alienu.
All ECLC students will be asked to come up to the Bima to participate in Ma Tovu with our clergy.

Please join us as we support our students during this special service and first Shabbat service in our new sanctuary.
