VBS Counseling Center
VBS Counseling Center
The VBS Counseling Center was established forty years ago to fulfill a need in the community. Its sustaining premise is that trained, experienced and dedicated volunteer counselors can help and guide individuals, couples and families through many of life’s challenges. Trained counselors help solve a myriad of emotional and psychological issues by offering wisdom, insight, education and creativity. The Center is committed to offering low fee treatment to our congregation and the community at large, regardless of ethnicity or religious affiliation. We treat all clients with dignity and respect, preserving confidentiality and following standards that ensure quality service and professionalism. View our Counseling Center video here >
We offer help for:

- Grief/Bereavement (including Widow Widower Bereavement Support Groups)
- Adolescent Issues
- Stress and Anxiety

- Marital/Family Problems
- Communication Issues

CONVERSATION CIRCLES SUPPORT GROUP (Zoom)
A Zoom room to meet and make friends, share coping skills, and end your isolation. Share your stories and get to know each other! Hosted by Judie Cotton, President of the VBS Counseling Center. We talk about everything and anything that lifts spirits and enhances connection.

YOUNG ADULTS SUPPORT GROUP (Zoom)
For ages 19-26 who are struggling with depression, stress, anxiety, and life transitions. This virtual group is a safe space to share your struggles with other young adults like you.
Led by Emilee Peters & Jerry Levine.

NEWLY SEPARATED AND DIVORCING
A support group for men and women going through the process of divorce. A place to meet others in similar situations and gain insight and strength to move forward. Leaders are Jane Blitz and Rozita Korie.

WOMEN'S GROUP
For women 65 and over looking to gain support and insights on issues surrounding family, personal relationships, aging, health and getting back into life post-COVID. Led by Linda Pachino and/or Susan Samuels. For more information please call (818) 784-1414.
Mondays 4:00-5:30pm
SPECIAL MARRIAGE ENHANCEMENT COURSE
Provides an opportunity to place a marriage on solid ground by helping to prevent disruptions. This course will be of value, regardless of a couple's age, gender issues, religion, or the number of previous marriages. You are urged to spend a few hours investing in strengthening this most precious relationship. The course includes five 90 minute group sessions.
Fee: $150 for a 5-session course
New! NUTRITION SUPPORT GROUP
Research indicates nutrition can improve mental health: reduce anxiety, diminish stress, as well as reduce the risk of many devastating diseases. Led by Art Kress, Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist; call 818.784.1414 and ask for Art.
All groups are $15 per session. Group participants are pre-screened at the VBS Counseling Center. Groups will be formed according to need. Contact the VBS Counseling Center at (818) 784-1414 for more information.
