COVID-19 Protocols for Services/Programs

We look forward to welcoming you back to the VBS campus.

Services and programs held on the VBS campus are subject to the below “Protocols”. For most services and programs, those (and members of their immediate household or caretakers) who are pre-registered will be permitted to enter the VBS campus.

To pre-register, you must complete the Covid-19 Pandemic Consent and Registration form to Attend Services/Programs form (the “Consent”) on behalf of you and any other members of your household that will be attending. Walk-up attendance is not permitted, except for evening minyan. The Consent will include an acknowledgment that you, and other members of your household attending, understand the Protocols and will abide by them. The Consent must be returned by completing the online form or by calling VBS staff member Yvette Ciaramilaro at 818-530-4085 to complete the form by phone.  The completed Consent and registration form must be received by VBS at the registration deadlines.

These protocols have been established for the purpose of doing our best to protect the health of all attendees and VBS staff.  VBS will also stream the services on VBS’ Facebook and YouTube channels. These Protocols are not voluntary and may not be compromised. Attendees unwilling to comply will be asked to leave the campus. Neglect of these protocols may result in the immediate termination of the service/program and clearing of the VBS Campus.

Attendance Limit

  1. VBS will determine a maximum attendee limit per service, in conjunction with County, State and CDC guidelines.

Consent Requirement

  1. All attendees must complete the Consent to and receive the confirmation from VBS that their attendance has been approved. The attendance list will be finalized on the day before the service/program.  While the Consent asks questions about the health of you and household members attending the service/program, VBS Security or staff will also conduct a health screening before entry.

Entry Requirements

  1. Temperatures will also be taken at Security. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, or anyone showing visible signs of illness, will not be permitted to attend. If you are feeling unwell for any reason, please stay home.

Vulnerable Attendees

  1. All unvaccinated adults and adults over 65 years of age and individuals with certain underlying health conditions or co-morbidities (such as, but not limited to, hypertension, obesity, uncontrolled asthma, and diabetes), or with immunosuppression conditions have shown the greatest susceptibility to the COVID-19 virus. Given those risks, we strongly recommend that any so-affected attendees consult regularly with their physicians to see if it is advisable that they attend the service – before registering -- for their personal safety.

Masks and Social Distancing

  1. Everyone attending the service must bring a mask or face covering and wear it over your nose and mouth at all times while on the VBS campus, regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status.

  2. You must maintain social distancing (at least six feet apart) while on campus regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status.  Seating groups at least six feet apart will be designated for each household.  At the service, you must remain in the designated seating areas.  In addition, parents are required to monitor their children and keep them close by.  The play structure will not be available for play.

  3. Attendees are strongly encouraged to bring their own Kippot. VBS will provide a small stock of plain Kippot for those who need them, with a designated box to return those Kippot after the service for cleaning.

  4. Please do not congregate in the hallways or courtyards.

Other Protocols

  1. All parking will be in the Sinder (main) Parking Lot.  There will be no parking attendant on duty. For those who may have difficulty walking the distance from the lot to the service, we recommend dropping off on Densmore immediately south of the security entrance.

  2. There will be no Oneg, no Kiddush nor other food served. VBS may provide water bottles. The drinking fountains will be turned off. At the conclusion of the service, all attendees will be asked to leave the synagogue campus. No schmoozing before or after the service will be permitted.

All attendees must review and comply with the VBS quarantine and travel policy linked HERE.
