B'nai Mitzvah
B'nai Mitzvah
Commentary by Rabbi Harold M. Schulweis
The Bar and Bat Mitzvah has shalosh-esrei l'mitzvot; thirteen, the age for imperatives, moral imperatives. It has a portrait of the tefillin,of the phylacteries. And this is done for both men and women, for young men and women who are Bar Mitzvahed in our congregation. This is an eglatarian congregation, so both men and women wear tallitoth, and put on the tefillin, the phylacteries of the hand, and the phylacteries of the head.
Dedicated in honor of the B'nai Mitzvah of our children
