Youth Department - Camp ViBeS - Summer 2024


Welcome to the VBS Youth Department, the central place for all children and teens of our community.

Below, please find the sign up form for Camp ViBeS: Intentional Experiences.

Eight, 1 week sessions of Chesed, Bachutz, Community Service and Adventurous Field Trips.

Program Description:
Eight, 1-week sessions from 9:30am-3pm, M-F. June 17 - August 9, 2024. Two days a week of off site service work, two days a week of off site Bachutz and one day a week of off site social events like Paintballing, Surfing, Trapeze, Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Parasailing, going to the beach,eating ice cream/boba tea, etc! Each participant receives 10 hours of Community Service per week. 

Week 1: June 17 - June 21
Week 2: June 24 - June 28
Week 3: July 1 - July 5
Week 4: July 8 - July 12
Week 5: July 15 - July 19
Week 6: July 22 - July 26 (VBS Middle School SOLD OUT)
Week 7: July 29 - August 2  
Week 8: August 5 - August 9 (VBS Middle School SOLD OUT)

LOCATIONS AND VAN/CAMP GROUPS:
  • VBS Grades 7&8
  • VBS Grades 9-12
  • SIJCC Grades 7-12

CAMP VIBES TUITION AND FEE STRUCTURE PER PARTICIPANT:
  • Camp ViBeS (Intentional Experiences) - Grades 7-12 
  • VBS Members $550 Per Week - EARLY BIRD $500 (BY APRIL 1, 2024)
  • Non-VBS Members $625 Per Week - EARLY BIRD $575 (BY APRIL 1, 2024)
  • 10 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE PER WEEK!

-Appreciation of Nature
-Backpacking Skills 
-Rope Tying, Fire Building
-Survival Tactics
-California Nature: Local Animals, Topography, and Landscape 
 
Location - Pending closures due to weather, fires, air quality, etc., we will hold the events at different parks and trail heads around LA County and Ventura County. 
 
This form is to be read and signed by both the parent and participant before the participant is allowed to take part in this activity. He/She must follow all instructions both adhered to by Valley Beth Shalom as well as the County of LA Department of Health and the LA County Department of Parks and Recreation. ENROLLMENT AND RESPONSIBILITIES AGREEMENT

By signing this Enrollment Agreement I/we acknowledge and agree to the following:

1. I/We understand that my/our child/children may not attend VBS Youth programs unless I/we have paid the full amount of tuition required or have established and am/are current with an automated credit card payment plan.Should I/ we need assistance with tuition it is my/our responsibility to contact the Valley Beth Shalom Administrative Office to set up the terms and conditions of my/our payment plan.

2. I/We understand that Valley Beth Shalom will enforce a behavior management policy. I/we understand that serious infractions such as, but not limited to, stealing, fighting, possession of contraband on campus (weapons, drugs or alcohol), willful destruction of school property, and/or bullying (including verbal and/or sexual harassment) may result in an immediate removal from class and may result in discipline up to and including dismissal with no refund of payment.

I/We have read, understand and agree to be bound by this enrollment agreement for myself/ourselves and on behalf of my/our child/children.

Important Dates & Refund Policy:

  • No refunds will be given for payments made for Camp ViBeS attendance after June 1, 2024 and families will be committed to the entire contracted amount.

Mandated Government Closure Refund Policy:

  • In the unlikely event of a Government Mandated Closure, VBS will provide refunds on the following basis for camp days occurring during the period of such closure as follows:

    • In the case of a Government Mandated Closure(s) that occurs during the 2023 Camp ViBeS season, VBS will provide a refund per student equal to 75% of the tuition that has been previously paid by the student’s family for the days that Camp ViBeS is closed due to a Government Mandated Closure.

    • Any refunds for Government Mandated Closures will be prorated for recipients of tuition assistance or other discounts.

      Families Electing to Keep Students at Home

        • In addition to Government Mandated Closures and VBS-Determined Closures, VBS recognizes that parents may elect, based on their own personal comfort, to keep their camper(s) home when Camp ViBeS generally (and the student’s classroom specifically) are open.

        • In such an event, while parents are of course able to make that determination and keep a child home from camp when it is otherwise open, no refund will be provided to the family for the period of that determination as that is part of the Shared Risk established in this policy. 

TRANSPORTATION RELEASE

I/We give permission and consent to VBS and its employees and agents to take my/our child/children on field trips as part of the normal curriculum and, to the extent possible, release Valley Beth Shalom and its employees and agents from any liability for personal injury to my/our child/children or property damage, except for injuries resulting from gross negligence of Valley Beth Shalom or their employees or agents.

MEDICAL EMERGENCY RELEASE

In the event of a medical emergency, in accordance with the Valley Beth Shalom emergency procedure, I/we, the undersigned parent(s) or legal guardian(s), do hereby release the appropriate personnel of Valley Beth Shalom to either administer first aid OR release the child/children to an emergency Hospital, urgent care facility or disaster center, for further treatment, as they deem necessary. Furthermore, I/we authorize appropriate care to be rendered by a duly licensed physician, nurse, surgeon, dentist and/or medical professional. This care may be given under whatever conditions are necessary to preserve the health and safety of the child/children. I/we further agree to pay all charges for that care and/or treatment. It is understood that if time and circumstances reasonably permit, VBS personnel will try, but are not required, to communicate with me/us prior to such treatment.

PHOTO/AUDIO/VIDEO/WEBSITE RELEASE

I/We give permission for photographs, video or audio recordings to be taken of my/our child/children to be used for public relations purposes and the promotion of Valley Beth Shalom on its printed materials, posters, flyers and websites.
PICK UP RELEASE

In accordance with the VBS emergency procedures, you are authorized to release my/our child/children to the following people (other than the parents/guardians):

IMPORTANT PAYMENT INFORMATION:

1) ACH (e-check): 
No processing fees; can be used to pay in full, or in installments. Requires vbs.org log-in. 
2) Credit Card: 3.25% Processing Fee - To avoid processing fees, choose ACH. 
3) Payment Plans: We offer pay-in-full or monthly payment options. The monthly plan must be secured with an ACH (e-check) account, debit or credit card.
