Susan Rubin
Caring Connection Director
Susan Rubin joined the VBS staff in 2008. As the director of VBS Caring Connection, Susan offers compassion and support during the moments of life's transitions and celebrations. She truly enjoys working with the VBS clergy to reach out to members of the congregation who are in need of extra community care, whether recovering from an illness, celebrating a birth or mourning a loved one.
Susan works with a dedicated team of VBS volunteers who find it deeply rewarding to help their fellow members. Another amazing team of volunteers led by Louise Spitzer created the War on Isolation in 2020 to help respond to the loneliness and isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
A Caring Connection program highlight for Susan is Dinner for Docs. This innovative program was formed in 2009 and meets four times each year. Dinner for Docs brings together VBS members who are medical doctors to discuss diverse doctoring and medical-ethical issues melded with the study of Jewish wisdom.
