Parking and Arrival Information

We can't wait to welcome you for the High Holidays

Join us at VBS to celebrating 5783 with Or Hadash: A New Light

Parking and Rideshare Information

Sinder Lot (Between Densmore and Gloria, south of Moorpark)

Entrance on Densmore Ave, north of Ventura Blvd. Tandem parking is necessary to accommodate the maximum number of vehicles. If you park behind another car in a tandem space, you MUST leave your keys in your car. The "first'' car to park in a tandem space must pull all the way in. Parking attendants will be in the Sinder Lot at all times for assistance. Please be courteous when entering and exiting this lot. Second Service attendees will not be permitted to park until all the cars from First Service have left.

Street Parking

Certain street parking restrictions are "relaxed" in the neighborhood during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. The City of Los Angeles will not enforce street cleaning, time limits or preferential parking restrictions on the following streets in our neighborhood: 4300 to 5000 blocks of Densmore Ave; 4600 to 5000 blocks of Gloria Ave; and 15800 block of Moorpark St. However, please note: Meters, Tow Zones, Hydrants and other SAFETY VIOLATIONS will be enforced. Meters on Ventura and on Densmore must be respected. Please do not block our neighbors' driveways when street parking.

Overflow Parking

On the morning of first day Rosh Hashanah, Kol Nidre evening and Yom Kippur day, overflow parking will be directed to level P4 of the underground lot in the Encino Terrace Office building located between Gloria and Densmore at 15821 Ventura Blvd. Take a parking ticket and have it validated at the USHER TABLE in the VBS Main Hallway.

Parking Accommodations and Valet Parking for Disabled Drivers and VBS Premier Members

A limited amount of disabled parking will be available in the Sinder Lot. Two golf carts driven by a parking attendant will be available for those needing assistance crossing Densmore. VBS is pleased to provide complimentary Valet Service ONLY for drivers with valid, state-issued disabled parking placards and to VBS Premier Members with a Valet Pass. Please note: There is no Valet Service on Erev Rosh Hashanah or Rosh Hashanah Day Two.

To Drop Off: Pull your car onto Densmore Ave just south of the Security Booth on the east side of the street.
For Pick Up: Proceed to Moorpark St (one block north of VBS) to the southwest corner of Moorpark and Densmore Ave to give your ticket to the Valet driver.

Signs will be posted for Valet Drop Off and Pick Up areas. Please note that Valet Pick Up may take additional time after services.

Rideshare

Due to limited parking during the High Holidays, we urge you to carpool or ride with others to travel to VBS. Drop Off/Pick Up for Rideshares will be on Densmore (north of Ventura).

This year, we've partnered with LYFT car services to offer special promo codes for travel to or from VBS on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur! The first 100 ride requests to use the codes below will receive a $5 discount.

Rosh Hashanah: Use the promo code VBSRH2022
Yom Kippur: Use the promo code VBSYK2022

Tickets and Seating

Tickets and photo ID are required for entry to all VBS High Holiday services. Please keep your ticket with you at all times; no adults will be admitted through VBS security without a ticket and photo ID. If you arrive without a ticket, you will need to obtain a will call ticket, or “day ticket,” from our Will Call Booth, which is located just north of our entry gate, at the driveway of the first home north of the main entrance. Except for areas in Niznick Sanctuary designated for VBS Premier Members, all seating is open and unassigned (non-reserved).

Security

There is nothing more important to us than to ensure the safety and security of every person who enters our holy space. This year we will be implementing the following security measures: To enter VBS, every ticket holder will be required to present a ticket along with a matching photo ID, and then pass through metal detectors. In addition, all bags, including purses, diaper bags, strollers and tallit bags will be checked. Please avoid bringing oversized bags or backpacks as this may delay your entrance time. We encourage you to arrive early to allow time for parking and security check in.

Health and Safety

The following updates were made with consensus from the VBS Medical Advisory, VBS Pandemic Response Team, VBS Board of Directors and VBS Senior Leadership. In alignment with LA County requirements, the following protocols will be effective immediately, and are subject to change at any time as conditions evolve:

  • We strongly encourage the continued use of masks indoors, however masks are not required on campus.
  • While we strongly encourage vaccinations and boosters, proof of vaccination is no longer required for individuals to enter campus for events.
  • As always, those experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms should stay home.
