Cantor Herschel Fox
Cantor Herschel Fox
Cantor Herschel Fox has shared his knowledge, talent, and Yiddishkeit with VBS for more than 20 years. Born in Europe and raised in Winnipeg, Canada among Holocaust survivors he spent his childhood in the dual world of Yiddish cultural life and European Orthodox Judaism, and became a cantor at the age of 13.
He was Cantor at Temple Shalom in Connecticut and performed in Yiddish theater and for Jewish organizations in the New York area. Cantor Fox teaches VBS classes in Mamaloshen, Yiddish culture/song, davening and the art of the cantor. He directs the VBS children’s Chazzanut (cantorial) class which helps lead Shabbat morning services.
